The Vestaburg Wolverines continued their defensive surge Thursday night, forcing turnover after turnover to power past Mesick in a commanding performance. Lily Johnston once again led the way with an explosive outing, pouring in 29 points while adding 7 steals, an assist, and a rebound. Her relentless pressure on the perimeter created constant problems for Mesick’s guards and generated numerous transition opportunities. Jessica Stouten delivered a well-rounded effort, contributing 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocks. Her impact on the defensive end—both in passing lanes and protecting the rim—helped anchor Vestaburg’s aggressive style. Jaiden Anderson added 3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 6 steals, showcasing her quick hands and playmaking ability on both ends of the court. Kaydence Bills provided steady support with 2 points, 4 rebounds, an assist, and a steal, helping control the tempo and keep Vestaburg’s defense organized. Callie Bills added 1 point, 2 rebounds, and a steal off the bench, giving the Wolverines another energetic presence in their press. For the Wolverines, the formula remained familiar: high-energy defense leading to offensive chances. Their ability to swarm, trap, and anticipate passes allowed them to dictate the game’s tempo and keep Mesick off balance throughout. With their third straight win backed by relentless defensive effort, Vestaburg continues to establish its identity as one of the toughest defensive teams in the area.
