Game 1 Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines Earn Walk-Off Win Over Montabella By GameChanger Media It came down to the wire on Friday, as Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over Montabella. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the sixth when Lucas Bunton doubled, scoring one run. Colton Halgren struck out 12 batters on the day. The right-handed pitcher also allowed one hit and two runs over five innings while walking two. Montabella were the first to get on the board in the second when an error scored one run. A ground out by Mason Bogart extended the Montabella lead to 2-0 in the top of the third inning. Jansen Scholer singled to center field, which helped Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines tie the game at two in the bottom of the fifth. A single by Cooper Kieff gave Montabella the lead, 3-2, in the top of the sixth. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth after Brayden Clements singled, and Bunton doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines got on the board in the top of the first inning after Colton Halgren singled down the left field line, Carter Allbee doubled down the left field line, and Montabella committed an error, each scoring one run.
