Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines Loses Despite Out Hitting Carson City-Crystal By GameChanger Media Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines fell 12-4 to Carson City-Crystal on Wednesday despite out-hitting them 10 to seven. Carter Allbee, Lucas Bunton, and Brayden Clements each collected two hits for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. Carson City-Crystal got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Wilson walked, Fellows doubled down the left field line, and Carson City-Crystal scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Carson City-Crystal added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Kirvan singled to center field, and Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines committed an error, each scoring one run. Carson City-Crystal scored seven runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. An error scored three runs, Strouse singled, scoring one run, Kirvan drew a walk, scoring one run, a wild pitch scored one run, and Fellows lined out, scoring one run. Strouse earned the win for Carson City-Crystal. The pitcher allowed nine hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Colton Halgren took the loss for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. The starter went four innings, giving up nine runs (seven earned) on five hits, striking out 12 and walking five. Kirvan led things off on the bump for Carson City-Crystal. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking three. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines tallied 10 hits in the game. Halgren, Bunton, and Clements each drove in one run for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. Bunton stole two bases. Shinebarger drove the middle of the lineup, leading Carson City-Crystal with three runs batted in. Kirvan led Carson City-Crystal with two hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Carson City-Crystal had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Strouse and Fernandez led the team with two free passes each. Kirvan stole three bases. Carson City-Crystal ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game. Carson City-Crystal turned one double play in the game. Jansen Scholer started the game for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines and recorded 18 outs. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the fourth when Maddex Koutz drew a walk, scoring one run. A single by Fellows on an 0-2 count put Carson City-Crystal on the board in the top of the first. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Colton Halgren doubled to center field, and Koutz walked, each scoring one run. Scholer earned the win for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. The pitcher surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking three. Kirvan took the loss for Carson City-Crystal. The hurler went five innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking two. Halgren went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Scholer led Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines with two hits in two at bats. Fellows led Carson City-Crystal with one run batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Fellows stole two bases. Carson City-Crystal were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Fellows had the most chances in the field with five.
