Game 1: Merrill 18, Vestaburg 3 Vestaburg came out strong defensively in the opener, recording the first two outs quickly in the top of the first inning. However, a defensive miscue that would have ended the inning allowed Merrill to extend the frame and score three runs. Merrill continued to build momentum with three more runs in the second inning and added single runs in both the third and fourth before erupting for 10 runs in the fifth inning to pull away. The Wolverines struggled defensively throughout the game, committing eight errors that led to 10 unearned runs for Merrill. Jersie Miller pitched all five innings for Vestaburg and recorded strikeouts in the loss. Offensively, Emma Myers led the way by reaching base safely in all of her plate appearances. Kelsey Cole added two hits and an RBI, while Terian DeVerney also drove in a run. Game 2: Merrill 16, Vestaburg 11 The second game of the doubleheader turned into an offensive battle, with the two teams combining for 24 hits. Merrill jumped out to an 11-2 lead before Vestaburg mounted an impressive comeback effort. The Wolverines battled back over the middle innings and eventually tied the game at 11 in the top of the sixth inning. Merrill responded immediately, scoring five runs in the bottom half of the inning to regain control and secure the sweep. Defensive struggles continued for Vestaburg, as the Wolverines committed six more errors that helped Merrill maintain its advantage. Ella Beres was the pitcher of record for Vestaburg and finished with five strikeouts. Eight of the nine Wolverines in the lineup recorded at least one hit. Kelsey Cole, Terian DeVerney, Jaiden Anderson, and Kelsie Stowell each collected two hits in the loss.
