Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines Loses Despite Out Hitting Marion By GameChanger Media Even though Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines collected nine hits to Marion's three, they still fell 11-7 on Monday. Jansen Scholer and Gunner Harnack each collected two hits for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. Marion were the first to get on the board in the first when McCrimmon grounded out, scoring one run. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines took the lead in the top of the third inning after Scholer doubled down the right field line, and Lucas Bunton homered to left field, each scoring two runs. Marion flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs on one hit to take the lead, 7-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Eising that drove in two. Colton Halgren hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fifth for the Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. McCrimmon earned the win for Marion. The starter allowed nine hits and seven runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking four. Halgren took the loss for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. The hurler went three innings, giving up seven runs on two hits, striking out four and walking eight. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines accumulated nine hits in the game. Scholer and Bunton each drove in two runs for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. Eising, the number eight hitter for Marion, led the way with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Jolly led Marion with two hits in two at bats. McCrimmon led Marion with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 11 walks for the game. Wilson and McCrimmon each stole multiple bases for Marion. Marion ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game. Marion were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. McCrimmon had the most chances in the field with 10. Scholer doubled in the third inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines won thanks in part to 15 runs in the fourth inning. Owen Proctor singled, scoring one run, Carter Allbee doubled, scoring two runs, Gunner Harnack drew a walk, scoring one run, Scholer singled, scoring two runs, Maddex Koutz singled, scoring one run, Brayden Clements drew a walk, scoring one run, Proctor drew a walk, scoring one run, Blake Rasmussen was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Allbee singled, scoring one run, Colton Halgren tripled, scoring three runs, and Scholer grounded out, scoring one run. Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines were the first to get on the board in the third when Scholer doubled, scoring two runs. Scholer earned the win for Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines. The pitcher allowed four hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Prielipp took the loss for Marion. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. McCrimmon went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Marion in hits.
