The Vestaburg Wolverines relied on a dominant defensive performance and timely big plays on offense Friday night to earn a 16-0 victory over St. Louis. The shutout moved the Wolverines to 1-1 on the season and showcased a defense that controlled the game from start to finish. Vestaburg struck early in the first quarter when quarterback Kofee Arntz connected with Brehm Warczinsky for a 36-yard touchdown pass. The Wolverines added the two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead. The offense found the end zone again in the second quarter. Lucas Warczinsky threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Brehm Warczinsky, and another successful two-point conversion extended the lead to 16-0. Brehm Warczinsky had a huge night offensively, hauling in four receptions for 85 yards and both Wolverine touchdowns. Kofee Arntz finished with 105 passing yards and a touchdown, while Lucas Warczinsky added a touchdown pass of his own. On the ground, Lucas Warczinsky paced the Wolverines with 94 rushing yards on 25 carries, helping Vestaburg control the clock and field position throughout the contest. While the offense produced enough points to secure the win, the story of the night was Vestaburg's defense. The Wolverines held St. Louis to just 72 rushing yards and did not allow a single point. Vestaburg's defense repeatedly shut down drives, forced turnovers and prevented the Sharks from establishing any offensive rhythm. Brehm Warczinsky was all over the field defensively, recording five tackles, three assists, three tackles for loss, and two interceptions. Trent Hilding added four tackles and two assists, while Lucas Warczinsky chipped in with four tackles and two assists. The Wolverines finished with 234 total yards of offense and controlled the game from the opening kickoff to the final whistle. Behind a stingy defense, clutch playmakers, and a physical rushing attack, Vestaburg secured an impressive 16-0 shutout victory over St. Louis.
